COVID-19

Country Manor Memory Care’s COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Response Action Plan

Our priority is to protect our community members from illness, including COVID-19, by adhering to infection prevention recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and state health officials.

The following is a summary of our COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Response Action Plan.

  • Encouraging everyone to stay up-to-date* with their COVID-19 vaccinations. Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect yourself and others from complications of the virus. Our team continues to educate everyone about the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccine and supports those who need assistance in obtaining a vaccine or booster shot.
  • Assigning one leader at Country Manor Memory Care to oversee all Training in Infection Prevention and Control and to implement our COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Response Action Plan.
  • Using source control and personal protective equipment (PPE) per CMS guidelines. We will wear a well-fitting face mask if we have one or more confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents or team members. In addition, masks are required for individuals who, within the previous 10 days, had symptoms of respiratory illness, had close contact with or a high-risk exposure to someone with confirmed COVID-19, or was asked to wear a mask by public health authorities.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to wear face masks when on-site during a COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, COVID-19 positive residents are encouraged to limit in-person visitation if they are infectious when possible.
  • Monitoring residents and team members for symptoms of COVID-19 per state and federal guidelines, including fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • Tracing and testing COVID-19 symptomatic residents and team members. Anyone with symptoms of the virus or who had a high-risk exposure to someone who is COVID-19 positive, will be tested per state and federal guidelines.
  • Quarantining COVID-19 positive residents. If a resident has tested positive for COVID-19, they will be quarantined with the appropriate support from our team, in alignment with recommendations from the CDC and CMS. COVID-19 positive residents remain in quarantine until they meet the CDC symptom-based criteria for return to normal activity.
  • Advising symptomatic team members to take appropriate measures. For the health and well-being of our senior living community, any symptomatic team member is asked to notify their supervisor and schedule a COVID-19 test prior to entering our community. We follow CDC guidance on the return-to-work criteria for health care professionals with confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses.
  • Implementing enhanced environmental safety precautions and infection control practices. We thoroughly clean and disinfect all high-touch areas, including countertops and tables, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, door knobs and handles, hand rails and crash bars, and elevator call buttons. In addition, we wash our hands often, use alcohol-based hand-rub regularly, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, and practice physical distancing as appropriate.
  • Supporting safe visitation practices. While visits are permitted at all times— even in the event of an outbreak—visitors should know there are risks of transmission associated with entering our community while we have any active COVID-19 cases. While federal officials do not recommend it, residents who quarantined due to active COVID-19 may receive visitors in their room or apartment. Participants are encouraged to wear well-fitting masks and physically distancing, if possible.

To protect the health and safety of our community members, individuals are asked to postpone visiting Country Manor Memory Care if, during the previous 10 days, they tested positive for COVID-19, experienced symptoms of respiratory illness, or were exposed to COVID-19. If a visit is postponed, our team is available to assist residents and their loved ones in using alternative communication methods to remain connected. It is our privilege to coordinate and accommodate visits that enhance individuals’ wellness and quality of life while maintaining the comfort and safety of all.
